Second Sunday in Advent
Thanks to Anna Borsick for lighting the second candle of Advent. We light the second candle of Advent. Come and renew us. Come, Emanuel.
“Come, O Redeemer, Come” (v. 1) W&S #3046
“Father enthroned on high, Holy, holy.
Ancient, eternal Light, Hear our prayer.
“Come, oh Redeemer, come, Grant us mercy.
Come, oh Redeemer, come, Grant us peace.”
In these brief moments of quiet, may we find strength. May our lives be rich in affection and deep in understanding and sympathy for each other.
Prayer leader: Pastor Patricia
Today is the day that Pastor Patricia does payers during the service of communion. Know that she prays for peace in this world – in Syria; in Palestine/Israel; in Ferguson, MO; in New York; in Cleveland. She prays for all those struggling during the cold weather, seeking shelter, warmth, and food.
For those prayers written down, we pray with Linda C. for a co-worker whose brother has liver cancer. Hospice has been called in since he is truly losing ground quickly. She prays that we keep this family in prayer and that he has a peaceful passing. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Sandy who faithfully prayers for healing for her dad again lifts Leroy as he has not been feeling well this week. Sandy also lifts her brother Randy as he fights a battle with cancer. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Steve and Amy lift their nephew Scott Radcliff and niece Leslie Graham for healing. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
And as your children, we pray as Jesus taught us:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
Email from Sandy on 12/8/14: My friend Phil who has been battling cancer is now in hospice. Please pray for him to have peace and faith.
